Why Travel Feels So Meaningful: It’s More Than the Destination
A Note From Michelle at VIVE
Thoughts on travel & life at the Great Wall of China.
I’ve been thinking about why we take so many pictures, share videos, or celebrate every time we land somewhere new.
I don’t think it’s always about the destination itself. Or checking another country off a list.
Sometimes it’s about everything it took to get there.
The years of hard work. The sleepless nights. The sacrifices. Everything we’ve been through in life that somehow led us to standing on this one little piece of the planet.
To me, that’s one of the most beautiful parts of travel.
And it’s why I love seeing people celebrate their travels. Whether they’re counting countries, taking a picture at a famous landmark, or getting tears in their eyes because they’re finally somewhere they’ve dreamed of visiting.

Because we don’t know what it took for that person to get there.
•Maybe they’re celebrating a milestone.
•Maybe they worked and saved for years.
•Maybe they’re healing from grief, a heartbreak, or a difficult chapter in life.
•Maybe they just needed to get away and feel like themselves again.
And sometimes a place gives us something we didn’t even realize we needed.
Real travelers understand this about each other.
It’s never JUST about the places we visit. It’s about the moments in our lives those places become a part of.
♥️ When you look back on your life, what places will hold a special piece of your story?
